Fertility Friday – Myth vs. reality #1
Today is the first day of Fertility Friday: Myth vs. Reality, where we talk about common fertility myths and discuss the real story!
Myth #1: Fertility issues only start once you turn 35
If you are trying to conceive, you can have fertility issues. It doesn’t matter how old you are.
It is true that a woman’s fertility does peak in the twenties and starts to decline in the mid-thirties. However, age is only a small factor in conceiving a baby.
There are many factors that can affect fertility. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, uterine issues, cycle issues & hormonal imbalances, infections and genetic factors are just a few (and this is only in women – men can have fertility issues too – more on that in the coming weeks!)
Further impacting fertility are lifestyle and environmental factors like smoking, alcohol consumption, poor diet, weight issues (too high and too low), chemical exposure and stress.
And sometimes there is no reason at all!
But the reality is whether you are 18 or 42, you can still have problems falling pregnant.
